Coral Springs, founded in 1963, is located 20 miles northwest of Ft. Lauderdale in Broward County. Since it’s creation, Coral Springs has won many awards for its general livability, low crime rate, and family-friendly orientation.
Coral Springs is bordered by the city of Parkland to the north, Coconut Creek to the east, Margate and North Lauderdale to the southeast and Tamarac to the south. Directly west of Coral Springs is the Everglades--an area that serves for great outdoor exploration and adventure.
Coral Springs has a particular aesthetic appeal to it which is constantly maintained creating a distinctive atmosphere among South Florida cities. For example, the city maintains restrictions on commercial signs, exterior paint colors, and roofing materials in order to promote this aesthetic appeal that is so unique to Coral Springs.
Currently, Coral Springs is undertaking a $700 million extensive redevelopment plan for the city's downtown area, which was started by the construction of "The Walk," an open-air shopping and entertainment area.
The city of Coral Springs' Parks and Recreation Department operates and maintains over 50 parks (covering 675 acres) throughout the city, including a water park and a skate park.
Primary and secondary education in Coral Springs is controlled by the Broward County Public Schools District (http://www.browardschools.com/). There are 3 public high schools, 4 public middle schools, and 12 public elementary schools within city limits. In 2008, the Florida Department of Education awarded all but one (which received a"B" grade) of Coral Spring's public schools received an "A" grade based on their performance on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test.
Boynton Beach, also known as "The Gateway to the Gulf Stream," is a coastal city located in a rapidly growing area of Palm Beach County. Boynton Beach offers its residents a superior lifestyle complimented by sub-tropical, year-round weather.
Boynton Beach is Palm Beach County's third largest city and, according to it's Chamber of Commerce, its the #1 rated beach in the county. Downtown Boynton Beach is currently undergoing a redevelopment process, including the construction of a multi-million dollar marina.
Boynton Beach local government provides a variety of public services for it's residents such as water and sewer services, trash pick-up, police and fire protection and compliance, golf and tennis amenities, as well as library services.
As of February 2008, Boynton Beach Commission employed a Green Task Force. The Force oversees the process of improving and sustaining the environmental needs of the city, recognizing the importance of clean energy, water, air and land. Throughout all the things that Boynton Beach does for it's residents, a great sense of community is created and sustained.
Primary and secondary education in Boynton Beach is controlled by the School District of Palm Beach County--the 5th largest school district in Florida. There are 10 elementary schools, 3 middle schools and 2 high schools.
